The evening promises to be informative and uplifting, with light refreshments, a compelling documentary, and the chance to hear firsthand from a suicide survivor.

The featured documentary, My Ascension, tells the story of Emma Benoit, a 16-year-old varsity cheerleader at Dutchtown High School whose suicide attempt left her paralyzed. Despite her pain and challenges, Emma used her experience to help others find hope and stay alive, becoming an inspiring advocate for suicide prevention. The feature-length film highlights Emma’s journey as she works to bring Hope Squad, a school-based suicide prevention program, to Louisiana.
