My Ascension ~A film to spread hope and fight suicide

Thursday, June 1st, 6-9 pm

Where: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School

17301 Old Vic Blvd., Olney, MD 20832

Join us for a FREE community event aimed at spreading awareness about suicide prevention and youth mental health among local families. The evening promises to be informative and uplifting, with light refreshments, a compelling documentary and a Q & A discussion on suicide prevention and youth mental health led by an expert panel including: the film’s lead Emma Benoit, Tammi Ginsberg, Board President of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) – Maryland Chapter, Mr. Johnathan M. Dunn, Resource Teacher (Music/World Languages), Sherwood High School and a local parent.

My Ascension tells the story of Emma Benoit, a high school cheerleader who suffered in silence with depression and anxiety before attempting suicide. The attempt left 16 year-old Emma paralyzed but propelled her on a mission to use her story to help others find hope and stay alive. Emma travels across the country advocating for youth suicide prevention and mental health.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about suicide prevention and hear from those who have been affected by it.
