Day School Program

Our Day School Program offers each student an opportunity for an educational change, a fresh start in learning and academic achievement.

Our approach begins with an understanding that each teen girl has her unique struggles and needs. For that reason, we emphasize personal goals and individual achievement. The length of time in the program will vary from teen to teen because the program is highly individual.  However, an average program length is between 12 to 15 months. The teen’s family should note the expected program duration when considering the House of Hope Maryland day school program. Once the program is underway, it is advisable that the teen completes her program of study as her own personal empowerment and for her educational success.

Our school is in session year-round from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday.  Our full-year schedule  allows a teen to catch up with missed academic subject matter and learning skills, and then move ahead. While attending the day school program, each teen will work through a phase system, earning increased responsibility and privileges, as mentors evaluate her progress.

Program Overview

Academic

We utilize the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum which is an individualized system of learning that allows each student to work at her own level and pace in a small classroom setting.

Counseling
Christian counseling is a key component of the program. Group, family and individual counseling is designed to heal fractured family relationships. While in the program, each student and her parents/guardians meet with a counselor weekly for individual counseling. In addition, each student and her parents/guardians will have family sessions to help heal familial relationships.
Spiritual Growth
Devotions, prayer, and scripture memorization are used to inspire the spiritual development of our teens. Students also attend weekly chapel services with their classmates and teacher.
Life Skills

We minister to the body, soul and spirit. Our life skills program includes a variety
of sports, creative arts and social activities. Students participate in healthy competition, creatively working out frustrations and stress. The social activities, both in the program and community, include hands-on experience and training in various areas: fitness, nutrition, etiquette, conflict resolution, problem-solving, team building, leadership, healthy relationships, music, art, and money and time management. Students are also required to organize and participate in community service projects on a regular basis.

Parenting Support

We recognize that the entire family needs to be involved in the healing process for lasting results. With that in mind, parental involvement is a critical component of the program. We require all parents/guardians who have a teen in our day school program to attend family/individual counseling and parenting classes.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are a non-denominational Christian ministry full of God’s hope, forgiveness, and grace with a loving staff committed to restoring young lives. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that receives no government funding and relies on tuition and private donations.

We are a year-round day school program for teen girls with rolling admission. Students attend school five days a week and utilize an individualized and self-paced curriculum for core class requirements. In addition, students participate in individual and family counseling, life skills development and spiritual growth initiatives to cultivate a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Students do not need to be Christian to enroll in our program and are not turned away for religious preference. The Christian perspective will be shared, and families agree to this upon admission to the day school. The program works with the understanding that a structure based on Christian principles is needed to create a safe, healing environment.

Maryland law states that a local public school system may determine whether credits earned at a church exempt high school will be accepted to the public high school which the student transfers. (cc Maryland State Department of Education, Nonpublic School Approval Branch, Fact Sheet Regarding Maryland Church Exempt School) With this in mind, it is important for parents to pursue this question with administrators of the school they anticipate their student may attend after our program.

Tuition and fees are determined on a sliding scale based upon income and no one is turned away for lack of funds.
